Inspired by the narratives of her family's immigration from Cuba during the revolution and her involvement in the DIY Riot GRRRL movement as a teenager Fernandez's drawings follow the tradition of storytelling and personal mythology.In this lineage elements of superstition from her grandmother,religion's prominence in Hispanic culture, location and the politics of the "other" can be found in her visual vernacular and the cosmologies that surround it.
